چکیده

b ackground: toxoplasmosis is a serious disease in immunocompromised patients and pregnant women. differentiation of acute and chronic infection is a major challenge in serodiagnosis of the disease. since the aim of this study was to assess the diagnostic utility of recombinant sag1 (rec- sag1) for the detection of toxoplasma -specific igm antibodies in human sera, by an enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (elisa). m ethods : the purified recombinant protein sag1 was applied in house elisa test and the ability of it in binding to specific immunoglobulin m in 30 serum samples of acute infected patients was evaluated. the results obtained by assays with the recombinant sag1 and standard commercial as- says were compared. r esult: the sensitivity and specificity of in house elisa compared to a standard commercial elisa (com-elisa) were 80% and 90%, respectively. c onclusion: it was concluded that the rec-sag1 could be an alternative marker for detection of anti toxoplasma -specific igm and diagnosis of acute infection.

Recombinant SAG1 Antigen to Detect Toxoplasma gondii Specific Immunoglobulin G in Human Sera by ELISA Test

BACKGROUND Although some serological tests for the detection of Toxoplasma gondii-specific immunoglobulin are commercially available, better diagnostic tools are needed. The aim of present study was to evaluate the usefulness of the recombinant Toxoplasma gondii SAG1 antigen for the recognition of toxoplasmosis by ELISA. METHODS This study was conducted in Cellular and Molecular Biology Resea...

Recombinant scFv Antibodies against P30 Surface Protein of Toxoplasma Gondii

Background & Aims: Toxoplasma gondii is an obligate, intracellular parasite, which is widely spread in the world. The parasite is able to infect all warm-blooded hosts including humans and farm animals. The infection in humans often occurs after the ingestion of raw or undercooked meat containing tissue cysts. Several methods have been applied to detect this parasite in contaminated foods. Reco...

Detection of immunoglobulin M antibodies specific for Toxoplasma gondii with increased selectivity for recently acquired infections.

Toxoplasma gondii infections can cause serious complications in pregnant women, leading to miscarriage, stillbirth, and birth defects. Definitive diagnosis of T. gondii acute infection is therefore critical for the clinical management of a mother and her fetus. Positive immunoglobulin M (IgM) results are not sufficient as evidence of recent infection, as these antibodies are often present for m...

Detection of human Toxoplasma-specific immunoglobulins A, M, and G with a recombinant Toxoplasma gondii rop2 protein.

The Toxoplasma gondii rhoptry protein Rop2 was expressed in Escherichia coli as a fusion protein containing 44 kDa of the 55-kDa mature Rop2, supplied with six histidyl residues at the N-terminal end (Rop2196-561). Humoral response during Toxoplasma infection of humans was analyzed by immunoglobulin G (IgG), IgA, and IgM enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay with Rop2196-561 as the antigen substrat...
